Ja Rule Drops Beef with 50 Cent

It has been a long while since Ja Rule had beef on 50 Cent, especially with conflicts and other arguments the two hip hop artists had. But, with Ja Rule declaring truce, it looks like everything will turn out just fine.

Ja Rule is making sure he has everything settled before going to prison for two years and he is doing just that through dropping the issues he had with 50 Cent.

Ja Rule says that, “I’m cool. We ain’t beefing no more. We’ll never collaborate. That’s just what it is. You don’t have to be at war with somebody, but it’s also kind of like U.S. and another country that they may not get along with. We don’t gotta go to war, but we’re not friends either. But we can coincide inside of a world. He’s doing him, and he’s not thinking about me, and I’m doing me and I’m not thinking about him.”

Although he argued back at 50 Cent’s taunts regarding Ja Rule going to prison, he was ashamed at lashing out, especially since he said that he was taking the Twitter attacks seriously.

Nevertheless, Ja RUle is looking forward to better relations among fellow music artists, especially in cutting off grudges against 50 Cent. Ja Rule is ready to take on things a better, even expressing how he was angry that he let 50 Cent get to him.

Ja Rule is to spend two years in jail for having a loaded semi-automatic gun in his sports car.

Hip Hop Icon Gil Scott-Heron Dead at 62

Hip Hop Legend Gil Scott-Heron died with an unknown cause of death on May 27. It was reported that he had been having drug addiction problems for years.

Scott-Heron was notable as being the forefather of Hip Hop, as many artists cited him as such. Although Scott-Heron refused to take credit, he said that the attribution was a mistake. Nevertheless, he became known as Hip Hop legend.

He told The Telegraph that, “People would try and argue that it was this militant message, but just how militant can you really be when you’re saying, ‘The revolution will not make you look five pounds thinner’? My songs were always about the tone of voice rather than the words. A good comic will deliver a line deadpan – they let the audience laugh.”

His most famous work was “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” in the 1970s, which was a satire, according to Scott-Heron, but it inspired a lot of hip hop artists in the industry, motivating them to be creative.
Although he had been facing much drug addiction throughout his years, he still managed to release an LP “I’m New Here,” where he teamed up with producer Richard Russell.

After his death, many paid tribute to his influence, especially by the Hip Hop community. He was known as a Hip Hop legend, as he influenced all of hip hop. Eminem even tweeted, “RIP Gil Scott-Heron.”
Gil Scott-Heron indeed has been a great influence for the Hip Hop industry, especially with his poetic samples inspired a lot of hip hop artists around the industry.

Prodigy and Nas to Reconcile Differences

The Prodigy and Nas rivalry has finally saw its end, going back to their collaborating days.

These two hip hop artists have been at it for a while now. Their feud has been documented as one of the most controversial in Hip Hop, as they were former friends and collaborators-turned rivals.

News broke out of their possible friendship rekindling when they both appeared in Mobb Deep’s “Dog Shit,” which surprised many fans who tuned in.

Nas said that, “He [Prodigy] called me as soon as he got out of jail; he got in touch with me. We talked about some things.” This cleared the tension that these two artists were facing. They have now settled their differences and are ready to hit the music industry once again, as collaborators and not as rivals.

Nas said that he put the past behind him because of the misunderstanding they had, and he believed that Prodigy may have fixed his old ways. Nas believes that things will start off well this time around, especially with new projects in line.

Nas also states that he wanted to know the truth. P had been writing a book, and Nas came to completely accept it as something positive, had Prodigy told him the truth. This was the major factor that fueled the rivalry, which was resolved right after Prodigy left jail.

We can surely expect things to get easier between the two hip hop artists in the future, especially with the “Dog Shit” collaboration to kick it off!

After a while, in 2009, the fire quieted down, however, Nick Cannon is going to bring back some sparks at Comedy Central, hoping to redeem Mariah’s honor from the humiliation.

Cannon further said that “I mean, if I see dude, and it ain’t 10,000 body guards around, I feel like we need to have a real man-to-man. And if he’s a froggish type of dude then we both can leap. But I doubt that’s ever gon’ happen because he don’t move like that. It’s one of those things where it’s definitely entertainment, I get that, but then there’s a line you cross where you start to disrespect a man’s family in different situations.”

Lupe Fiasco and the Music Industry – a talk on Record Labels

Lupe Fiasco shares his thoughts on the music industry, especially regarding how he handles his records and how he sees where the music industry is heading towards commercial viability over artistic expression.

Lupe Fiasco explains how the music industry is slowly spiraling downward with urban music labels focusing on commercialization trends rather than musical passion. He says that “People come out of the music business fucked up because you have to become so numb to things and you have to do things completely against your morals.”

He specifically goes on about how people write songs about killing people, selling dope, and other things that they normally wouldn’t do. They have families and little kids, Lupe Fiasco emphasizes, and yet other artists do that for the money and not for the heart of music.

Lupe Fiasco continues to share his sentiments on the matter by saying how other artists continue to produce such music where the integrity of music becomes completely the opposite of the real person. He says that, “When I look at how the product we create is the soundtrack to people’s lives, this shit is everywhere. I hate the music business will all my heart. I hate this shit.”

Lupe Fiasco also addresses how he gave the records “Airplanes” and “Nothin’ on You” to fellow artists B.o.B. when he recorded them first. Lupe Fiasco says, “He took those records where they needed to go. To say, if it is was my records would be different.” He went on to discuss how the record fit B.o.B.’s song types more than his own.
Lupe Fiasco recently released his new album Lasers under the label Atlantic.

Freddie Gibbs Doubts Death of Bin Laden

America may have enjoyed justice being dealt with the recent infiltration of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan, resulting his consequent death by US forces. Rapper Freddie Gibbs, however, says otherwise. He believes that it is simply a government propaganda, providing Obama’s current position as being stagnant in his presidency, especially with the recent threat of the government shutting down just recently.

Gibbs said to the Breakfast Club of Power 105 that, “I don’t know what to believe right now. They probably got a bin Laden stunt double they killed.”

Gibbs is very critical of the government, especially how many controversies arise in events that impact people. Even though he respects the 9/11 victims, he says that the people don’t really know what the government is hiding. This makes the whole issue a huge question on the credibility of the death of bin Laden.

Adding to that, Freddie Gibbs expresses his concern over the trouble that President Obama is facing right now, as he says that, “I feel sorry for Obama, because he’s probably the most stressed n***a in America right now.”

Gibbs is clearly worried about what might happen later on, especially for people loyal to bin Laden. Celebration may not last too long because he fears that the loyalists of bin Laden may retaliate because of this breaking news.

“You gotta respect everybody’s culture and religion. And America, we always trying to be the world police and it’s just going to bite us in the ass,” Gibbs said.

Chiddy Attempts Guinness World Record for Freestyle Rap

Chiddy Bang’s Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege is going to take his rapping skills to a competitive level by making it into the Guinness World Record for having the Longest Freestyle Rap. Nine hours were spent in Chidd’s rap session, where the whole world watched through web cam streaming his freestyle rap.

Chiddy said that, “It’s all about pacing yourself. I tend to be very, very hype when I rap. This time, I realize I’m gonna rap for like nine hours, so I’m not gonna come out of the gate hyped. I’m just gonna pace myself and ride that thing out, ride it till the wheels fall off.”

The Philly rapper told XXLMag that “It’s definitely a surreal experience.” The nine hours spent rapping proved to be physically exhausting, but he proved that if Guinness recognized his efforts, then he has made a worldwide name for his freestyle rap.

In achieving this, Chiddy talks about how he had to continue rapping no matter what, especially as the rules stated that he could not stop for 30 seconds. Taking just two little bathroom breaks, the rapper had to continue while in the bathroom, which proved to be a challenge for Chiddy.

Nevertheless, he now walks with two Guinness World Records: Longest Continuous Rap and Longest Freestyle Rap.

What started out as a publicity stunt provided Chiddy with the opportunity that he can prove to the world that he had the strength to achieve what was impossible. He remembered how difficult it was, but he said that once he was halfway done, he could not just simply turn back.
