BLXST is here to prove he can kill the R&B game, just like his beats. The South Central Los Angeles artist first exploded onto the local rap scene with his production on Kalan.FrFr’s “Right Wit It,” which instantly became a viral sensation. Since then, he’s been locked in the studio getting better on the daily.
Most recently, he linked with fellow LA native Bino Rideaux on a joint project titled Sixtape, which left fans in turmoil. Each and every record on the tape resonated with both artists’ growing fanbases.
King Ice caught up with BLXST in Los Angeles to discuss his take on artists wearing jewelry.
Do you feel like you have to wear jewelry as an artist?
Have to? Nah, hell nah. You see J. Cole out here doing his thing. Kendrick, he doesn’t have to wear jewelry. I mean, it looks good for the people. But it’s never a priority.
How would you explain your fashion?
I wouldn’t explain it actually. [chuckles] I go with whatever is comfortable at the time, just throw it on.
